Groddle Field Notes · Music
Musicblocks
Musicblocks were Glitch’s pocket music: small collectible blocks, each holding one tune, that you could play for yourself and anyone nearby. Tiny Speck released the recordings with the rest of the game, and every tune that survived is here to hear. Press play on any block.

Musicblock DB-1
Knees, prepare to be slapped. This musicblock takes no prisoners with its twangy goodness.

Musicblock DB-2
Like the songs that giants hum to themselves when they're feeling blue. Unless they ARE blue, in which case they don't sing this way at all.

Warning: May cause you to do the chicken boogie.

Musicblock DB-4
Feet everywhere will tap despite themselves when they hear this.

Musicblock DB-5
If you could amplify butterfly song, this is roughly what it would sound like.

Musicblock BB-2
Warning: excessive volume may cause eyeball jelly to vibrate (in a good way).

Musicblock BB-3
Lie back, close your eyes, and let the music wash over you, like the a cool sea breeze on a hot Alakol day. Or the tongues of a thousand piggies.

XS: the shiny blocks

Musicblock XS Collector Collect all 5 for 800 iMG, 250 mood, 250 energy and the XS Music Trophy.

Musicblock XS-1
This is sort of an experimental, free-form, jazzy, fusiony something-or-other. Heavy on the experimental.

Musicblock XS-2
It's a little-known fact that this snappy little ditty was the inspiration for the phrase 'snappy little ditty'.

Musicblock XS-3
This rare musicblock is a bootleg from a Lapulapu Cavern rave dance party.

Musicblock XS-4
Rare recording of classic Glitch-hop before it all went mainstream.

Musicblock XS-5
If you played a butterfly song backward, this is roughly what it would sound like. You can barely hear the demons.
Two rare ones
Goodnight Groddle and SB-1 belong to no series. Goodnight Groddle was once the song that sent the world to sleep, and SB-1 is the one the Giants hummed while they imagined it.

Musicblock GNG
Once upon a time, this was the song that sent the world into slumber.

Musicblock SB-1
This is the rare original recording of the song the Giants were humming when they were imagining the world.
How they play
A musicblock is never used up: play it as often as you like. While it plays, the street music steps aside, and it comes back when the tune ends.
- Playing a block costs 2 energy and lifts your mood by 2.
- The first time you hear a tune it pays 50 iMG, or 1,000 for SB-1.
- Come back to it after a month away and it pays 100 iMG.
- After 4 hours it counts again for the day: 10 iMG for the first tune of a game day, 5 for each new one after that.
- Any sooner and it is stale: still a good tune, but no iMG.
- A low mood earns less iMG, as everything does.
Where to find them
In the remake a block waits on each street you have not collected one from, always one you do not own yet, so exploring fills the series. SB-1 only comes out of the soil while you tend patches, and Goodnight Groddle turns up once every series tune is yours.
Play Groddle Afternoon to start collecting.
The one still missing
Musicblock T-1 is in Tiny Speck’s item files, with a price and no description. Its tune was tracked down in 2026: a bugle call from a commercial sound library, which Glitch also played when the world shut down for maintenance during its beta. It is not Tiny Speck’s own music and was never released with the game, so it stays off this page.
The tunes are Tiny Speck’s own recordings and the icons its own art, both released into the public domain. The descriptions are from the game’s item files.
